The Indonesian government assures that fuel (BBM) stocks remain secure following the fire at the Pertamina Plumpang Fuel Terminal (TBBM) in Jakarta on Friday, March 3, 2023. The Plumpang depot previously contributed significantly to the daily fuel needs of the community, amounting to 20% or 25% of the total needs of Pertamina gas stations.
Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, revealed that several depots will back up or provide reserves for daily fuel distribution in the Jabodetabek area after the tragedy that killed 19 people.
As reported by *Katadata* from *Antara*, the Tanjung Gerem TBBM has Pertamax stocks of 6,559 kiloliters (kl), sufficient for 15 days, and Pertalite stocks of 17,189 kl, sufficient for 9.6 days.
"At the Cikampek TBBM, there are Pertalite stocks of 20,399 kl, sufficient for 10 days, and Pertamax stocks of 6,137 kl, sufficient for 11 days. Meanwhile, at the Ujung Berung TBBM, there are Pertalite stocks of 24,250 kl (11.5 days) and Pertamax stocks of 22,004 kl (29.2 days)," he stated at a press conference held on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
In addition to the TBBMs, the government and Pertamina have also prepared reserves through the Balongan Main Transit Terminal (TTU), which has Pertalite stocks of 80,014 kl (57 days) and Pertamax stocks of 50,626 kl (170 days).
These supplies do not include additional supplies from the Balongan and Cilacap refineries, which can be transported by sea to the Tanjung Priok TBBM. The depots used as backup reserves are the closest to Plumpang.
Global Tank Storage states that the throughput of the Plumpang depot reaches 16,504 kl per day, with its main distribution area covering Jabodetabek. This TBBM also has a storage tank capacity of 291,889 kl.
The Pertamina Plumpang TBBM first operated in 1974. Currently, the Plumpang depot distributes a complete range of fuels, namely Premium, Bio Solar, Dex, Dexlite, Pertamax, Pertalite, and Pertamax Turbo, through a world-class Terminal Automation System (TAS), commonly known as the New Gantry System, to 249 tanker compartments.
