2023 Data: Unemployment in Aceh Selatan Regency is 4.73%

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Aceh Selatan Regency reached 4.73% in 2023. This figure is a decrease of 0.09% compared to December 2022, which was recorded at 4.82%. Compared to December 2021, the figure decreased by 1.73%.

The open unemployment rate (TPT) over the past five years reached its highest point in 2019 at 6.54% and its lowest point in 2023 at 4.73%.

Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate (TPT) in this regency/city ranks 197th nationally. The national average open unemployment rate (TPT) in 2023 was 4.3%.

The reduction in the open unemployment rate (TPT) this year can be seen from the condition of the number of the workforce and the number of employed people. The number of the workforce in Aceh Selatan Regency has shown an upward trend over the past 16 years. However, conversely, in the four years after COVID, the number of the workforce has shown a downward trend. In 2021, the number of the workforce was recorded at 109,790 workers, then decreased by 3,725 workers from the previous year to 107,710 workers in 2023.

As for the number of employed people, the number of workers in Aceh Selatan Regency has shown an upward trend over the past 14 years. A different condition is seen in the four years after COVID, with the number of workers showing an upward trend. In 2021, the number of workers was recorded at 102,700 workers, and in 2023 it decreased to 102,610 workers.
