By November 2016, Indonesia had imported 2,568 directors and 408 commissioners from abroad. The large number of foreign companies in Indonesia, as well as local and mixed companies utilizing foreign directors and commissioners, increased the number of foreign workers (TKA) in these two positions to 13,080 workers, up from 10,104 in December 2015.
Based on the permits to employ foreign workers (IMTKA) issued by the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, the number of foreign workers in Indonesia at the director level reached 11,468, an increase of 2,568 (28.9 percent) from the end of 2015, which stood at 8,900 workers. Meanwhile, foreign workers at the commissioner level increased by 408 (33.9 percent) to 1,612 workers in November 2016, up from 1,204 at the end of 2015.
The total number of foreign workers (TKA) in Indonesia by November 2016 reached 74,183, a 7.5 percent increase from 69,025 in December 2015. Foreign workers at the professional level dominated, accounting for 31 percent. Meanwhile, foreign workers employed as consultants experienced the largest decrease, falling by 13.6 percent to 10,727 from the end of 2015.
