Investment-Driven Job Absorption Increased by 18.5% in Q2 2021

The Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded that investment in Indonesia absorbed 311,922 workers in Q2 2021. This figure increased by 18.5% compared to the same period last year, which was 263,109 workers.

The highest number of job absorptions came from domestic investment (PMDN) at 165,684 workers. Meanwhile, job absorption from foreign investment (PMA) amounted to 146,238 workers.

Realized investment was recorded at Rp 223 trillion, a 16.2% increase in Q2 2021. The details are: Rp 106.2 trillion from PMDN and Rp 116.8 trillion from PMA.

The housing, industrial estates, and office sectors had the largest realized investment in Q2 2021, totaling Rp 31.3 trillion. The next largest sector was the basic metal industry, metal goods, non-machinery, and equipment, generating Rp 29.7 trillion in investment.

West Java had the highest investment absorption at Rp 35.3 trillion. This was followed by DKI Jakarta and East Java with realized investments of Rp 25.3 trillion and Rp 17.7 trillion, respectively.
