2023 CASN Applicants for the Ministry of Religion Reach 169,000, with the Highest Number in West Java

Registration for prospective civil servants (CASN) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) officially closed on October 11, 2023. The Head of the Human Resources Bureau of the Kemenag Secretariat, Nurudin, stated that his institution was overwhelmed with applicants in this period's CASN selection.

“Public interest in becoming a civil servant at the Ministry of Religious Affairs is very high. A total of 169,754 applicants were recorded. Of that number, 133,363 submitted their applications,” said Nurudin in his official statement on Friday (October 13, 2023).

However, in this year's CASN selection, Kemenag only opened 4,125 positions.

Based on Kemenag's report, the highest number of applicants was in the West Java regional office, reaching 18,990 applicants.

This was followed by the East Java Kemenag regional office with 12,728 applicants and Central Java with 9,389 applicants.

Based on the positions, the most applicants for CASN at Kemenag applied for elementary school teacher positions, totaling 21,986.

This was followed by Archivists with 16,198 applicants, Aqeedah Akhlak teachers with 10,707 applicants, and Fiqh teachers with 10,707 applicants.

4. Aceh: 9,022 people
5. North Sumatra: 8,528 people
6. South Sulawesi: 7,835 people
7. Lampung: 6,563 people
8. Yogyakarta Special Region: 3,828 people
9. West Sumatra: 3,711 people
10. Jambi: 2,964 people

For the next stage, Kemenag will conduct an administrative selection process which will last until October 14, 2023. The results will then be announced on October 15-18, 2023.
