University Graduates Dominate Indonesian Civil Servants

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded the number of civil servants (PNS) in Indonesia in 2018 as 4.2 million. This figure decreased by 2.5% compared to the previous year, which reached 4.3 million. The largest composition of civil servants was at the undergraduate/doctoral/PhD education level, namely 2.7 million or 63.4% of the total civil servants in 2018.

The next largest number was at the high school or equivalent education level, reaching 848,000, with a composition of 538,000 men and 310,000 women. The next highest number was at the Diploma III/Akta III/junior undergraduate level, totaling 388,400. Diploma I and II/Akta I and II graduates numbered 209,400. Meanwhile, the smallest number was at the primary school level, at 29,500, and junior high school/equivalent level, at 53,000.
