Average Wages of Workers by Education Level: Which is the Highest?

According to the results of the National Workforce Survey (Sakernas) in August 2021, laborers who completed university education received the highest average wage, amounting to Rp 4.11 million. Meanwhile, laborers who completed primary school or less received the lowest average wage, namely Rp 1.65 million.

This indicates that the higher the level of education completed by a laborer, the higher the wage received. Laborers with university education receive wages 2.5 times higher than those with primary school education or less.

Based on age group, the lowest wages were found in the 15-19 age group, at Rp 1.55 million. Then, laborers' wages increased with age, peaking in the 55-59 age group at Rp 3.6 million.

Furthermore, the highest average laborer wages were found in the mining and quarrying sector, at Rp 4.33 million in August 2021. This was followed by the financial services and insurance sector at Rp 4.14 million.

Meanwhile, the sectors with the lowest average laborer wages were accommodation and food services, at Rp 1.87 million. The next lowest average laborer wages were in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries at Rp 1.97 million.
