According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) report, in 2022 the average provincial minimum wage (UMP) across Indonesia reached Rp2.72 million.
However, a more detailed breakdown reveals that each region has a different minimum wage. As shown in the graph above, only 16 provinces had a UMP above the national average, while the UMP in the other 18 provinces was below average.
In 2022, the province with the highest UMP was DKI Jakarta, while Central Java had the lowest UMP in Indonesia.
Here is a list of the 10 provinces with the highest UMP in 2022:
1. DKI Jakarta: Rp4.64 million
2. Papua: Rp3.56 million
3. North Sulawesi: Rp3.31 million
4. Bangka Belitung Islands: Rp3.26 million
5. West Papua: Rp3.20 million
6. Aceh: Rp3.16 million
7. South Sulawesi: Rp3.16 million
8. South Sumatra: Rp3.14 million
9. Riau Islands: Rp3.05 million
10. North Kalimantan: Rp3.01 million
Here is a list of the 10 provinces with the lowest UMP in 2022:
1. Central Java: Rp1.81 million
2. Yogyakarta Special Region: Rp1.84 million
3. West Java: Rp1.84 million
4. East Java: Rp1.89 million
5. East Nusa Tenggara: Rp1.97 million
6. West Nusa Tenggara: Rp2.20 million
7. Bengkulu: Rp2.23 million
8. Central Sulawesi: Rp2.39 million
9. West Kalimantan: Rp2.43 million
10. Lampung: Rp2.44 million
Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah stated that the minimum wage will increase again next year.
"It can be seen that the 2023 minimum wage will be relatively higher than the 2022 minimum wage, considering economic growth and inflation data," said Ida, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (8/11/2022).
Ida stated that preparations for the determination of the minimum wage for next year began in September 2022. She also admitted to having held dialogues with employers and labor unions to gather input.
