Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia's ready-to-wear clothing industry export performance strengthened at the beginning of this year.
In the first quarter of 2024, the industry's export value reached US$2.04 billion, up 1.32% compared to the first quarter of last year (year-on-year/yoy).
However, the performance strengthening did not occur evenly across all sub-sectors.
The ready-to-wear clothing industry sub-sectors that strengthened in Q1 2024 were only ready-to-wear clothing (confectionery) from textiles; and ready-to-wear clothing and accessories from leather.
Meanwhile, the sub-sectors of knitted ready-to-wear clothing; textile clothing accessories; and knitted socks and the like weakened.
Here is a breakdown of the growth of ready-to-wear clothing industry sub-sectors in Q1 2024, separated between those that strengthened and weakened:
Export Value Strengthened:
* Ready-to-wear clothing (confectionery) from textiles: up 3.91% (yoy)
* Ready-to-wear clothing and accessories from leather: up 15.56% (yoy)
