2023 Data: Unemployment in Mempawah Regency Reaches 7.33%

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released data showing that the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Mempawah Regency reached 7.33% in 2023. This figure is a decrease of 0.15% compared to December 2022, which recorded 7.48%. Compared to December 2021, the figure decreased by 0.38%.

Since 2018, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Mempawah Regency has shown an upward trend in terms of numbers. However, in the four years following the Covid-19 pandemic (since 2020), the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Mempawah Regency has also decreased.

Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in this regency/city ranks 54th nationally. The national average open unemployment rate (OUR) in 2023 was 4.3%.

The decrease in the open unemployment rate (OUR) is reflected in the number of employed people and the labor force published by BPS this year. The labor force in Mempawah Regency experienced a downward trend in the last 16 years, while in the last four years, the labor force has been on an upward trend. In 2021, the labor force was recorded at 120,590 workers, and in 2023, it increased to 161,110 workers.

Regarding the number of employed people, the number of workers in Mempawah Regency has increased in the last three years. Historically, in 2021, there were 111,290 workers; in 2022, this increased to 117,570 workers; and in 2023, it was recorded at 149,290 workers.

The decrease in the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Mempawah Regency is not directly related to the economic growth in this region, which also continues to increase in 2023. The economy in this region in 2023 was recorded at 5.09 percent. Previously, in 2022, economic growth in this regency/city was recorded at 4.7 percent.
