Investment-Driven Job Absorption Fell by 2.3% in Q3 2021

The Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded that investment in Indonesia absorbed 288,687 workers in the third quarter of 2021. This figure is down 2.3% compared to the same period last year, which was 295,387.

The largest number of job absorptions came from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), amounting to 154,715 people. This figure increased by 7.6% compared to the same period last year, which was 142,930.

Meanwhile, job absorption from domestic investment (PMDN) amounted to 133,972 people. This figure decreased by 12.1% compared to the same period last year, which was 152,457.

Investment realization was recorded at Rp 216.7 trillion, up 3.7% in the third quarter of 2021. The details are: PMDN realization amounted to Rp 113.5 trillion, while FDI amounted to Rp 103.2 trillion.

West Java was the largest recipient of investment realization, at Rp 34.8 trillion in the third quarter of 2021. DKI Jakarta and East Java followed with investment realizations of Rp 25.3 trillion and Rp 17.7 trillion, respectively.
