Placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers Increased to 6,733 in October 2021

A report from the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) shows that 6,733 Indonesian migrant workers were placed in October 2021. This figure is up 6.50% compared to the previous month, which saw 6,322 placements.

Based on province of origin, East Java still dominated as the highest source of national migrant workers throughout October, with 2,761 individuals. This was followed by Central Java with 1,542, West Java with 1,072, Bali with 512, and Lampung with 379.

Hong Kong was the main destination country for Indonesian migrant workers in October 2021, with 4,879 individuals. Other major destinations included Taiwan (623), Singapore (381), Italy (358), and Poland (114).

Based on gender, female migrant workers significantly outnumbered males in October 2021. The number of female migrant workers was recorded at 5,931, or approximately 88% of the total, while the number of male migrant workers was only 802.

In total, the placement of Indonesian migrant workers from January to October 2021 reached 59,078. The highest number of placements was recorded in March 2021, reaching 7,071. The lowest number was recorded in February 2021, at 4,231.
