2023 Data: Unemployment in Talaud Islands Regency 3.1%

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the open unemployment rate (OUR) in the Talaud Islands Regency in December 2023 decreased by 0.57% to 3.1% compared to December 2022. However, compared to December 2021, the open unemployment rate (OUR) increased, as it was previously recorded at 2.3%.

The open unemployment rate (OUR) over the past five years reached its highest point in 2022 at 3.67% and its lowest point in 2015 at 2.02%.

Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in this regency/city ranks 294th nationally. The national average open unemployment rate (OUR) in 2023 was 4.6%.

The reduction in the open unemployment rate (OUR) this year can be seen from the condition of the number of the workforce and the number of employed people. The number of the workforce in the Talaud Islands Regency has shown an upward trend over the past 16 years. In 2021, the number of workers was recorded at 56,214, then decreased by 2,802 workers to 55,979 workers in 2023.

As for the number of employed people, the number of workers in the Talaud Islands Regency has increased over the past three years. Historically, in 2021, there were 54,923 workers, in 2022 this decreased to 51,224 workers, and in 2023 it was recorded at 54,242 workers.

The decrease in the open unemployment rate (OUR) in the Talaud Islands Regency is not directly related to the plummeting economic growth in 2023. The economy in this region in 2023 was recorded at 5.21 percent. Previously, in 2022, economic growth in this regency/city was recorded at 5.22 percent.
