With the receding impact of Covid-19, unemployment in Central Java has fallen to 5.95%.

The decrease in the number of working-age people affected by Covid-19 led to a decline in the unemployment rate in Central Java in August 2021. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the number of working-age population (WAP) affected by Covid-19 was 2.95 million people, or 10.84% of the total WAP. This figure is higher than in February 2021 but lower than in August 2020.

Due to the reduced impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Central Java fell by 0.1 percentage points to 5.95% in August 2021 compared to February 2021. This figure also decreased by 0.52 percentage points from August 2020.

The number of Central Java's workforce was 18.96 million in August 2021. This figure increased by 0.74% compared to February 2021 and also rose by 1.13% compared to August 2020. Similarly, the number of employed people was 17.84 million. This figure increased by 0.76% compared to February 2021 and increased by 1.7% compared to August of the previous year.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people in Central Java was 1.13 million in August 2021. This number increased by 0.5% compared to February 2021, but decreased by 7.09% compared to August 2020.

In August 2021, there were 286,730 people in Central Java unemployed due to Covid-19. There were also 105,500 people in the province who were no longer part of the workforce. Furthermore, there were 247,450 people temporarily unemployed, and 2.31 million people experienced a reduction in working hours.
