According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the average wage or salary of Indonesian workers in February 2025 was Rp3.09 million per month.
When broken down by industry, the highest average worker wages were in the mining sector.
Here is a list of the top 10 industries with the highest average worker wages or employee salaries in Indonesia in February 2025:
1. Mining: Rp5.09 million per month
2. Electricity and gas supply: Rp5.04 million per month
3. Financial and insurance activities: Rp4.88 million per month
4. Information and communication: Rp4.13 million per month
5. Real estate: Rp4.04 million per month
6. Professional and business activities: Rp3.97 million per month
7. Government administration: Rp3.76 million per month
8. Transportation: Rp3.72 million per month
9. Health activities: Rp3.42 million per month
10. Construction: Rp3.21 million per month
On the other hand, the industries with the lowest average worker wages in February 2025 were other services at Rp1.81 million per month; followed by the agriculture sector at Rp2.25 million per month; and accommodation and food service activities at Rp2.42 million per month.
According to BPS data, the industry that absorbed the most labor in February 2025 was agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, with a proportion of 28.54% of the total Indonesian working population.
Next are the wholesale and retail trade, repair and maintenance of cars and motorcycles sectors at 19.26%; and the manufacturing industry at 13.45%.
The number of Indonesian people working in the formal sector in February 2025 reached 59.19 million. The number of people working in the informal sector was 86.58 million.
BPS also noted that in February 2025, 54.06 million Indonesian workers had the status of laborers or employees. Meanwhile, the number of non-permanent or unpaid laborers reached 23.39 million.
