Number of Active BPJS Employment Participants by Province, Beginning of 2025

According to the Ministry of Manpower's data, approximately 42.67 million workers were registered as active participants in the BPJS Employment social security program in January 2025.

This figure comprises 26.89 million active participants in the wage recipient (PU) category; 9.91 million non-wage recipients (BPU); and 5.87 million in the construction sector.

In January 2025, DKI Jakarta had the highest number of active BPJS Employment participants, reaching 8.1 million, equivalent to 19% of the national total.

The following is a list of the 10 provinces with the highest number of active BPJS Employment participants as of January 2025:

1. DKI Jakarta: 8.10 million people
2. West Java: 5.09 million people
3. East Java: 5.02 million people
4. Central Java: 4.12 million people
5. Banten: 2.83 million people
6. North Sumatra: 2.07 million people
7. East Kalimantan: 1.38 million people
8. South Sulawesi: 1.13 million people
9. Riau: 1.12 million people
10. Bali: 1.1 million people

Meanwhile, West Sulawesi had the lowest number of active BPJS Employment participants, with only 67,900 people. This was followed by Maluku with 158,700 people and Bangka Belitung Islands with 183,800 people.
