This Province Has the Highest Rate of Despairing Unemployment in 2023

According to data from the Ministry of Manpower, in August 2023 there were 1.05 million unemployed individuals who were discouraged workers, meaning they felt it was impossible to find a job.

This discouraged group comprised 13.41% of the total number of unemployed in Indonesia during that period.

The highest number of discouraged unemployed in August 2023 was recorded in West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

The lowest numbers were recorded in Gorontalo, North Kalimantan, and Riau, as shown in the graph.

However, in terms of proportion, the highest rate of discouraged unemployment was in Maluku, Jambi, and West Kalimantan. Approximately one-third of the total unemployed in these provinces felt it was impossible to find work.
