The Indonesian government has officially set a 6.5% increase in the average 2025 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP).
This is stipulated in Minister of Manpower Regulation (Permenaker) Number 16 of 2024 concerning the Determination of the Minimum Wage for 2025, enacted on December 4, 2024.
"The minimum wage is an important social safety net for workers with less than 12 months of service, adjusted to meet decent living needs," said President Prabowo Subianto in a press conference at the Merdeka Palace, as reported by *Katadata*, Friday (29/11/2024).
The formula for calculating the 2025 UMP refers to Government Regulation Number 51 of 2023 concerning Wages. This formula includes inflation plus economic growth multiplied by a certain index.
Of the 38 provinces in Indonesia, DKI Jakarta has the highest UMP at Rp5,396,761. The lowest UMP is in Central Java at Rp2,169,349. Only Papua Pegunungan has yet to set its UMP for 2025; it will continue to use the Papua UMP as a reference for 2024.
