West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi has set the 2025 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) at Rp2,994,193.47.
This figure represents an increase of Rp182,744.2 or 6.5% compared to the 2024 UMP of Rp2,811,449.27.
"This UMP will take effect on January 1, 2025. The determination of the 2025 West Sumatra UMP is through Decree Number 562-840-2024 concerning the West Sumatra Provincial Minimum Wage, dated December 9, 2024," said Mahyeldi, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (10/12/2024).
He explained that the UMP increase aims to improve the welfare of workers. Its determination considered several factors, including economic and regional development.
"We hope that this figure will increase people's purchasing power and help workers become more prosperous," said Mahyeldi.
In addition to the UMP, Mahyeldi also set the Provincial Sectoral Minimum Wage (UMSP) at Rp3,024,193.47. This is stipulated in Decree Number 562-841-2024 concerning the West Sumatra Provincial Sectoral Minimum Wage.
The UMSP is the minimum wage set specifically for certain sectors or industries with higher job risks than other sectors. The UMSP amount is higher than the UMP, just as the district/city sectoral minimum wage (UMSK) must be higher than the UMK.
