According to a report by Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in August 2024 there were 7.59 million commuter workers, equivalent to 5.24% of the total workforce in Indonesia.

The number increased by approximately 210,000 people compared to August of the previous year (year-on-year/yoy). However, the proportion decreased by 0.04 percentage points.

The majority, or 90.87%, of commuter workers used private/company vehicles. 6.66% used public transportation, 0.77% used online transportation, and 1.7% used other modes of transportation.

From August 2019 to August 2024, the proportion of Indonesian commuter workers fluctuated with a downward trend, as shown in the graph.
