This shows the proportion of commuter workers across all Indonesian provinces.

According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), 5.3% of Indonesian workers in 2023 were commuter workers.

Commuter workers are individuals who commute daily to work outside their district/city of residence.

"The phenomenon of daily commuting is one indicator of the expanding reach of the local labor market," wrote the BPS in its report, *Analysis of Labor Mobility from the 2023 Sakernas Survey*.

By region, DKI Jakarta had the highest proportion of commuter workers at 16.6% of its total workforce.

The lowest proportions of commuter workers were in Papua and North Kalimantan, each at only 0.2%.

"The disparity in the number of commuters between regions in Indonesia is quite reasonable, considering the uneven distribution of population and economic activity," wrote the BPS.
