Data from the Indonesian Manpower Employment Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan), processed by the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker), shows that there were 162,327 workplace accidents in Indonesia up to May 2024.
The details are: 149,070 cases from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants who are wage recipients (PU); 11,784 cases from non-wage recipients (BPU); and 1,473 cases in the construction sector.
West Java had the highest number of workplace accidents during this period, with 30,259 cases. The breakdown is: 28,237 PU cases; 1,817 BPU cases; and 205 construction sector cases.
East Java is second with a total of 24,771 cases. The breakdown is: 22,828 PU cases; 1,636 BPU cases; and 307 construction sector cases.
Third is Central Java with 21,159 cases. The breakdown is: 19,398 PU cases; 1,632 BPU cases; and 129 construction sector cases.
Following are Banten with a total of 13,909 cases and Riau with 10,482 cases. The provinces with the fewest workplace accidents are West Sulawesi with 44 cases; Maluku with 56 cases; and Central Sulawesi with 95 cases.
