The East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Provincial Government has set the 2024 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) at Rp3,360,858.

This amount is an increase of Rp159,462, or 4.98%, from the 2023 UMP of Rp3,201,396.

Acting Governor of Kaltim, Akmal Malik, stated that the 2024 UMP in Kaltim is the highest among other provinces in Kalimantan. Meanwhile, West Kalimantan's UMP increased to Rp2.7 million and South Kalimantan's to Rp3.28 million.

This 2024 UMP increase will take effect from January 1, 2024, for workers with less than one year of service.

Head of the East Kalimantan Manpower and Transmigration Office, Rozani Erawadi, explained that the UMP calculation formula refers to inflation, economic growth, and the alpha value in accordance with Government Regulation No. 51/2023 concerning Wages.

"The Provincial Wage Council stated that the alpha calculation was set at 0.30," he said.

With the increase in the 2024 Kaltim UMP, Rozani hopes that the District/City Wage Councils can immediately hold meetings to discuss the determination of the District/City Minimum Wage (UMK).
