2023 Data: Unemployment in Kota Baru Regency Reaches 6.08%

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Kota Baru Regency in December 2023 decreased by 0.62% to 6.08% compared to December 2022. Over the past six years, the open unemployment rate (OUR) has steadily increased at a faster rate than in previous years.

Since 2018, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Kota Baru Regency has shown an upward trend. A similar situation occurred four years after the Covid-19 pandemic, which began in March 2020, also resulting in a rise in the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Kota Baru Regency.

Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate (OUR) in this regency/city ranks 100th nationally. The national average open unemployment rate (OUR) in 2023 was 4.3%.

The reduction in the open unemployment rate (OUR) this year can be seen from the number of the workforce and the number of employed people. Regarding the number of employed people, the number of workers in Kota Baru Regency has shown an upward trend over the past 14 years, while in the last four years, the number of workers has been declining. In 2021, there were 157,530 workers, and this number decreased to 148,850 workers in 2023.

The decrease in the open unemployment rate (OUR) in Kota Baru Regency is related to the plummeting economic growth in 2023. The economy in this region in 2023 was recorded at 4.29 percent. Previously, in 2022, economic growth in this regency/city was recorded at 4.58 percent.
