This is a List of the Top Destination Countries for Indonesian Migrant Workers in 2023; Taiwan is Number One.

Based on a report by the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI), the placement of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) reached 274,965 people throughout 2023.

This achievement grew by 36.96% compared to the previous year (year-on-year/yoy), which amounted to 200,761 people.

Throughout 2023, the majority of PMIs were placed in Taiwan, totaling 83,216 people. This number is equivalent to 30.26% of the total population of Indonesian migrant workers in the previous year.

The next largest destination country for PMIs was Malaysia, which accommodated 72,260 Indonesian migrant workers. This was followed by Hong Kong with 65,916 people and South Korea with 12,580 people.

Meanwhile, the country with the fewest Indonesian migrant workers in 2023 was Austria with 15 PMIs. Then, there were Dominica and Cambodia, each accommodating 45 and 49 PMIs respectively throughout the year.

9. Brunei Darussalam: 2,872 people
10. Turkey: 2,289 people

According to their province of origin, the majority of PMIs in 2023 came from East Java, with a total of 68,069 people. This was followed by PMIs from Central Java and West Java with 59,009 and 52,961 people respectively.

In terms of profession, PMIs were dominated by domestic helpers throughout last year, totaling 66,362 people. This was followed by caregivers with 54,665 people and plantation workers with 25,163 people.
