Why Are Soft Skills Important in the Age of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence?

Robots and artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly being used by companies to replace a number of human jobs. However, according to LinkedIn's 2019 Future of Skills report, workers with strong soft skills are still in demand.

This survey found that 47% of respondents answered that soft skills are needed because they represent uniquely human capabilities in the midst of automation. Respondents also stated that higher-order thinking skills remain a key point in the technology world, at 44%. 43% felt that soft skills could help them adapt to new technologies.

The soft skills referred to in the report relate to creativity, adaptability, time management, and analytical thinking. With these abilities, workers can make effective decisions from the diverse information they receive.
