Acehnese Residents Most Frequently Employed as Laborers in August 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the number of employed people in Aceh was 2.36 million in August 2021. Of this number, 35.57% were laborers, employees, and staff.

This figure decreased by 1.94 percentage points compared to February 2021, which reached 37.51%. Meanwhile, the proportion increased by 1.29 percentage points compared to the same period last year, which was 34.28%.

In August 2021, 22.97% of the working population in Aceh were self-employed. Furthermore, 13.34% were family workers.

Another 12.59% of the working population in Aceh worked with the help of casual laborers. The proportion of Aceh's working population with independent worker status in the agricultural sector was 6.33%.

The proportion of Aceh's working population with independent worker status in the non-agricultural sector was 5.46%. Meanwhile, 3.74% of the working population in Serambi Makkah (Aceh) worked with the help of permanent laborers.

The majority, or 36.13%, of Aceh's main employment sectors were in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries in August 2021. The second largest sector was wholesale and retail trade at 16.24%.
