Remote working, or working remotely, has become a choice for many workers. This option has become increasingly popular since the Covid-19 pandemic, as workers had to limit their mobility to prevent the spread of the virus.
Now, this "legacy" of Covid-19 is still being implemented by some workers or companies to improve efficiency. However, only a few countries provide easy access for remote workers.
Network security company, NordLayer, conducted research on the best countries for remote work in its report titled *Global Remote Work Index 2023*.
The assessment was conducted on 108 countries worldwide, considering several indicators such as cybersecurity, economic security, digital and physical infrastructure, and social security.
These indicators were then weighted with a score ranging from 0-1 points. The higher the score, the better or more supportive the country is considered to be for remote workers.
The result shows Denmark ranked first as the best country for remote work in the world. This Northern European country achieved a score of 0.847 points in 2023.
"Dominating the *Global Remote Work Index*, Denmark combines strong digital infrastructure and social security," wrote NordLayer in its report.
Below it are the Netherlands and Germany, which followed closely with scores of 0.843 points and 0.842 points, respectively.
