Survey: Remote Work Increasingly Prevalent in Indonesia During the COVID-19 Pandemic

JobStreet's survey reveals that the number of Indonesian workers performing their duties remotely increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the pandemic, only 4% of respondents worked remotely. This figure rose to 13% during the pandemic.

Respondents combining office and remote work during the pandemic also increased from 28% to 41%. Conversely, respondents working full-time in the office decreased from 68% to 46% during the pandemic.

Furthermore, the number of respondents who wished to work remotely during the pandemic was significantly higher, at 23%. Similarly, a higher percentage of respondents hoped to combine office and remote work. Only 9% of respondents still wanted to work exclusively in the office during the pandemic.

According to an Edelman survey, many people desired remote work during the pandemic due to concerns about COVID-19 exposure in the office. Some respondents also felt that working from home improved the work-life balance.

For information, JobStreet conducted a survey of 33,084 respondents in Indonesia in November-December 2020. Besides Indonesia, JobStreet conducted similar surveys in 189 other countries.
