East Java, the Province with the Most Job Openings in 2023

According to data from the Ministry of Manpower collected by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), throughout 2023 there were 216,972 registered job openings in Indonesia.

These openings were divided into 132,469 for male workers and 84,503 for female workers.

Based on region, the most job openings in 2023 were recorded in East Java, namely 51,163 openings.

This was followed by West Java and Central Java, with 35,546 and 35,191 openings respectively.

Meanwhile, the lowest number of job openings was in Maluku and North Maluku, each with only 168 openings throughout 2023.

The following is a list of the top 10 provinces with the most registered job openings at the Ministry of Manpower in 2023:

1. East Java: 51,163 openings
2. West Java: 35,546 openings
3. Central Java: 35,191 openings
4. West Sumatra: 20,516 openings
5. DKI Jakarta: 12,802 openings
6. Banten: 7,697 openings
7. North Sumatra: 5,896 openings
8. South Sulawesi: 5,629 openings
9. South Sumatra: 4,629 openings
10. Jambi: 4,554 openings

The national number of job openings was not commensurate with the number of job seekers.

Throughout 2023, there were 1.89 million job seekers nationally, consisting of 1.06 million men and 757,960 women.

West Java had the highest number of job seekers nationally, at 542,150 in 2023.

This was followed by East Java with 220,388 job seekers and Central Java with 218,013.
