The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Malaka Regency reached 3.06% in 2023. This figure is a decrease of 0.24% compared to December 2022, which was recorded at 3.3%. Compared to December 2021, the figure decreased by 0.37%.
The open unemployment rate (TPT) over the past five years reached its highest point in 2018 at 3.79% and its lowest in 2019 at 2.34%.
Compared to other regencies/cities, the open unemployment rate in this regency/city ranks 361st nationally. The national average open unemployment rate in 2023 was 4.3%.
The reduction in the open unemployment rate (TPT) this year can be seen from the condition of the number of the workforce and the number of employed people. The number of the workforce in Malaka Regency has shown an upward trend over the past eight years and continued after COVID-19. In the last four years, the number of the workforce has also shown an upward trend. In 2021, the number of the workforce was 95,494 workers; this number then increased by 3,282 workers to 102,470 workers in 2023.
Regarding the number of employed people, the number of workers in Malaka Regency has increased over the past three years. Historically, in 2022, there were 102,260 workers; in 2023, this number decreased to 99,336 workers; and in 2024, it was recorded at 100,550 workers.
