Young Lecturers Dominate in Indonesia in 2020

The 2020 Higher Education Statistics Report shows that young lecturers dominate in Indonesia. Lecturers aged 26 to 35 years old recorded the highest number, namely 91,934 people or 29.38% last year.

There were 88,367 lecturers or 28.24% aged 36 to 45 years old. In addition, Indonesia has 1,161 lecturers or 0.37% aged under 25 years old.

Lecturers aged 46 to 55 years old totaled 74,557 people or 23.83%. Then, lecturers aged 56 to 65 years old numbered 48,805 people or 15.6%.

There were also 8,066 elderly lecturers. Lecturers over 65 years old represent 2.58% of the total number of lecturers in Indonesia.

The total number of lecturers in Indonesia is 312,890. 274,939 or 87.87% have permanent employee status. Meanwhile, non-permanent lecturers numbered 37,951 or 12.13%.

According to employment status, non-Civil Servant (PNS) lecturers dominate, namely 180,494 people or 67.36%. The remaining 87,446 lecturers are Civil Servants (PNS).
