The Jakarta New Student Admissions (PPDB) for elementary, junior high, senior high, and vocational high schools for the 2023/2024 academic year concluded on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
The Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik) claims that the 2023 PPDB process in the capital city ran smoothly.
“The 2023 Jakarta PPDB has been completed. We ensured that the PPDB process ran smoothly,” said the Acting Head of the Jakarta Education Agency, Purwosusilo, as quoted by *Kompas.com*, Friday, July 14, 2023.
According to Purwosusilo, all complaints from parents have been resolved. "During the PPDB process, complaints received through offline posts, call centers, and social media at the school level have been followed up in accordance with applicable rules and regulations," he said.
The PPDB process in Jakarta has been underway since May 10, 2023, starting with pre-registration and account applications. Meanwhile, school selection began from June 12 to July 11, 2023, for elementary, junior high, senior high, and vocational high schools.
According to the *Indonesia Statistics* report, there were 8,067 schools in Jakarta during the 2022/2023 academic year.
The details are as follows: the number of kindergartens (TK) in the capital city reached 1,873 units, with 95.78% of them being private kindergartens. Then, there were 991 *raudatul athfal* (RA) schools managed under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
There were 2,239 elementary schools (SD) in Jakarta, with 58.41% of them being public schools. There were also 474 *madrasah ibtidaiyah* (MI) schools, with 93.35% of them being private.
There were 1,078 junior high schools (SMP) in Jakarta, with 72.82% of them being private. Then, there were 252 *madrasah tsanawiyah* (MTs) schools, with 83.33% of them being private.
Next, the number of senior high schools (SMA) in Jakarta was 492 units, with 76.21% of them being private.
Meanwhile, there were 572 vocational high schools (SMK) in the capital city, with 87.23% of them being private. There were also 96 *madrasah aliyah* (MA) schools, with 77.08% of them being private.
