PTM Scans Show 1,299 Schools Became COVID-19 Clusters

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) recorded 1,299 schools as COVID-19 clusters by 09:45 WIB on September 22, 2021. Of this number, 7,285 educators and 15,655 students were infected with the coronavirus.

Specifically, the highest number of coronavirus transmission clusters were in Elementary Schools (SD), with 584 units. 3,174 elementary school educators were infected with the coronavirus. Meanwhile, 7,144 elementary school students were exposed to the virus.

There were 250 coronavirus clusters in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions. From this number, 955 educators and 2,006 students in PAUD institutions were exposed to the coronavirus.

Furthermore, 243 Junior High Schools (SMP) also became coronavirus clusters. 1,482 educators and 2,201 junior high school students were infected with the coronavirus from these clusters.

At the Senior High School (SMA) level, 107 coronavirus clusters were recorded. From these clusters, 798 educators and 1,947 senior high school students were infected with the coronavirus.

Then, there were 70 coronavirus clusters at the Vocational High School (SMK) level. 605 educators and 1,947 SMK students were also infected with the coronavirus.

Finally, there were 15 coronavirus clusters at the Special Needs School (SLB) level. 131 educators and 112 SLB students were exposed to the coronavirus.

Despite some schools becoming coronavirus clusters, Kemendikbudristek continues to implement limited in-person learning (PTM). According to their data, the proportion of schools holding PTM reaches 42% of current educational activities.
