10 Provinces with the Lowest Average Age of Women at Marriage in 2022

The National Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) sets the median age at first marriage (MUKP) for women in Indonesia at 22 years in 2022. However, in reality, several provinces still have MUKP figures below the target.

Central Kalimantan is recorded as the province with the lowest average age of marriage nationally, at 19.7 years last year.

This means that the average woman who marries in Central Kalimantan is 19.7 years old, or lower than the target set by BKKBN.

Still from the same island, South Kalimantan follows with a slight difference in MUKP, namely 19.8 years.

Here is a list of the 10 provinces with the lowest median age at first marriage (MUKP) for women in Indonesia in 2022:

1. Central Kalimantan: 19.7 years
2. South Kalimantan: 19.8 years
3. West Java: 19.9 years
4. Jambi: 20.2 years
5. Bangka Belitung Islands: 20.3 years
6. West Nusa Tenggara (NTB): 20.3 years
7. East Java: 20.4 years
8. Central Sulawesi: 20.5 years
9. Bengkulu: 20.5 years
10. Lampung: 20.6 years

Meanwhile, the MUKP achievement last year was 21 years, while the target set by BKKBN in 2022 was 22 years.

"This means that the MUKP in 2022 has not yet met the target that has been set, even though it has increased from 2021, which reached 20.7 years," wrote BKKBN in its report.

BKKBN also hopes that the MUKP achievement in 2024 will increase to 22.1 years.
