Top Public Senior High Schools in Jakarta Based on 2020 University Entrance Exam Results

MH Thamrin State Senior High School (SMA Negeri Unggulan MH Thamrin) is ranked as the best senior high school in Jakarta, according to the Indonesian Higher Education Entrance Test Agency (Lembaga Tes Masuk Perguruan Tinggi or LTMPT). Based on a recent LTMPT release, MH Thamrin State Senior High School achieved an average Scholastic Potential Test (Tes Potensi Skolastik or TPS) score of 601.683 in the 2020 Computer-Based Test (Ujian Tes Berbasis Komputer or UTBK) for universities. This score is the highest among other public schools in Jakarta.

State Senior High School 8 (SMA Negeri 8) is ranked second with an average score of 594.865. Next, State Senior High School 28 (SMAN 28) with a score of 585.437 ranks third, followed by State Senior High School 81 (SMAN 81) with a score of 585.048 in fourth place, and State Senior High School 34 (SMAN 34) in fifth place with an average score of 577.815. The next three schools are State Senior High School 2 (SMAN 2) (574.511), State Senior High School 68 (SMAN 68) (573.89), and State Senior High School 78 (SMAN 78) (572.779).

State Senior High School 61 (SMAN 61) and State Senior High School 48 (SMAN 48), both located in East Jakarta, are also included in the top ten best senior high schools based on the average TPS score in this UTBK. Both achieved average TPS scores of 571.055 and 570.644, respectively.

LTMPT calculates the school's average TPS score from the scores of participants from that school. The average TPS score of participants is calculated based on the average of four sub-tests: quantitative ability, reading and writing comprehension, general reasoning ability, and general understanding knowledge. Schools that meet the criteria are those with a minimum of 20 UTBK 2020 participants.

A total of 21,302 schools participated in the UTBK last year. However, only 6,319 schools met LTMPT's criteria and were included in this ranking.
