According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), in addition to attending school, students aged 10-23 in Indonesia also work and manage household chores.

As of March 2025, 40.76% of students in this age group were working, while 7.27% were managing household chores.

Based on education level, BPS stated that the higher the education level, the larger the percentage of students who work and manage household chores.

The breakdown of the percentage of students aged 10-23 who work and manage household chores in March 2025 is as follows:

Higher Education

Managing household chores: 52.65%
Working: 30.55%

Senior High School/Vocational School or equivalent

Managing household chores: 46.31%
Working: 7.56%

Junior High School or equivalent

Managing household chores: 40.34%
Working: 3.37%

Elementary School or equivalent

Managing household chores: 31.76%
Working: 1.25%

Based on gender, 8.10% of male students were working, while 34.76% were managing household chores.
