15 Locations of Garuda Excellent Schools Costing Rp8.7 Billion

Garuda Excellent Schools (SUG) is one of Prabowo Subianto's government programs initiated to improve the quality of education at the senior high school level, particularly in science and technology.

The Ministry of Finance recorded that as of September 8, 2025, 15 SUGs have been established across various regions of Indonesia. Sumatra and Java have the most, with 4 schools each.

The following is the distribution of Garuda Excellent Schools across Indonesia, as of August 8, 2025:

Sumatra: 4 schools

• SMAN 10 Fajar Harapan Banda Aceh
• SMA Unggul DEL
• MAN Insan Sendekia OKI
• New SUG: Bangka Belitung

Java: 4 schools

• SMAN Unggulan MH Thamrin
• SMA Cahaya Rancamaya
• SMA Pradita Dirgantara
• SMA Taruna Nusantara

Kalimantan: 2 schools

• SMAN 10 Samarinda
• SMAN Banua Kalimantan Selatan

Sulawesi: 2 schools

• MAN Insan Cendekia Gorontalo
• New SUG: Southeast Sulawesi

Bali-Nusa Tenggara: 1 school

• New SUG: West Timor, East Nusa Tenggara

Maluku: 1 school

• SMAN Siwalima Ambon

Papua: 1 school

• SMA Averos

The Ministry of Finance recorded that this program has consumed a budget of Rp 8.7 billion as of September 8, 2025. This is equivalent to 4.4% of this year's budget allocation of Rp 2 trillion.

Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara explained that the budget was used to build schools and prepare new locations.

"New SUGs in 3 locations are ready, namely Bangka Belitung, East Nusa Tenggara, and Southeast Sulawesi, and their construction is heading towards AMDAL (Environmental Impact Assessment)," said Suahasil in the APBN KiTa press conference on Monday (September 22, 2025).

In addition, five SUG locations are being prepared for construction in 2026.
