According to a Chegg survey, in 2024, about two-thirds (67%) of students worldwide used generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) technology to assist with their academic assignments.

"Of those students who have used Gen AI to support their university studies, more than half (56%) say they mostly use AI in their school/university work for understanding a concept or subject," Chegg stated in its Global Student Survey 2025.

Students using Gen AI also reported benefits such as being better able to complete assignments and manage their workload.

Chegg conducted this survey in collaboration with Yonder Consulting. The online survey was conducted from October 1-23, 2024, involving 11,706 respondents aged 18-21 from 15 countries. The number of respondents in each country ranged from 500 to 1,002.
