The average annual turnover of trading businesses in South Sumatra is Rp35 billion.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the average turnover per trading business in South Sumatra (Sumsel) was Rp35.72 billion per year in 2020. This figure is the highest nationally.

According to BPS, in 2020 Sumsel had 4,431 trading businesses. Of these, 2,432 were classified as retail trade, 1,273 as wholesale trade, and 726 as trade, repair, and maintenance of automobiles and motorcycles.

Central Sulawesi ranked second with an average turnover per business of Rp30.7 billion per year, followed by Yogyakarta Special Region and North Sumatra at Rp29.2 billion and Rp27.4 billion per year, respectively.

Next, the average turnover per business in East Kalimantan was recorded at Rp24.4 billion per year, while South Sulawesi recorded Rp23.07 billion per year.

The province with the lowest average turnover per business was Aceh, at Rp6.3 billion per year, followed by West Sulawesi and Banten at Rp9 billion and Rp9.5 billion per year, respectively.

The turnover calculated here is gross revenue, which is the total amount of money earned from sales over a specific period, without deducting operational costs such as raw material costs, production costs, employee wages, rent, marketing costs, and other expenses.
