KIC Survey: Many Young People Favor Presidential Candidates Who Are Not Party Members

Most Indonesian young people prefer presidential candidates who are not party cadres.

"The national online survey conducted by KIC aims to explore the perceptions of young people towards political dynamics in Indonesia ahead of the general election," said KIC Survey Manager Satria Triputra Wisnumurti in a written statement on Tuesday (14/11/2023).
"The voices of young people (Gen Z and Millennials) need to be accommodated by political parties and presidential/vice-presidential candidates because their number reaches 113 million, or almost 57% of the total permanent voter list, so they can be decisive in determining the victory," he continued.
The KIC survey was conducted from October 11-17, 2023, involving 1,005 respondents proportionally distributed across Indonesia's 34 provinces.
All respondents were young people, namely Gen Z aged 17-26 years (50.4%) and Millennials aged 27-42 years (49.6%), who possess mobile phone numbers.
The survey used tSurvey data collection, capable of accurately reaching respondents by utilizing telco data insight capabilities.
This survey has a margin of error of +/- 3.1% at a 95% confidence level.
