Several factors influence public perception of presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 Indonesian Presidential Debate.

According to a survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), the majority of respondents (69.1%) stated that the clarity of the candidates' ideas was the most influential aspect.

Furthermore, 63.8% of respondents were more influenced by the candidates' attitude towards their opponents, and 62.8% valued their mastery of the debate material.

Other respondents emphasized the candidates' innovative solutions and programs (57.7%), tone of voice (46.5%), speaking effectiveness in terms of timeliness (44.4%), and the use of data (43.8%).

Some others assessed the candidates based on their body language (39.3%), attitude towards the moderator (30.8%), clothing (13.8%), the cheering of supporters (7.5%), gimmicks such as poems or dances (7.3%), and attributes such as caps, pins, or bracelets (6.3%).

The KIC survey involved 1,791 respondents over 17 years old with mobile phone numbers. All respondents were assumed to represent the demographic population across Indonesia's 36 provinces.

57.3% of respondents were male and 42.7% were female.

The majority of respondents were millennials aged 27-42 (46.9%), followed by Gen Z aged 17-26 (35.7%), and Gen X aged 43-58 (14.3%).

The proportion of respondents from the boomer generation (over 58 years old) was the smallest (3.1%).

Data collection was conducted online from December 13-15, 2023, using tSurvey's data collection platform with a non-probability sampling method.

The survey's margin of error is +/-2.3% at a 95% confidence level.
