United States: Largest Recipient of Intellectual Property Rights, 2015

The United States is the world's largest recipient of intellectual property rights revenue. World Bank data shows that the United States recorded US$126.2 billion in intellectual property rights revenue, surpassing the Netherlands in second place with US$42.8 billion and Japan in third place with US$36.6 billion.

Only Singapore, with US$3.3 billion in revenue, ranked 12th globally, among Southeast Asian countries in the top 30 recipients of intellectual property rights. China ranked 21st globally with US$1.1 billion in intellectual property rights revenue.

Total global intellectual property rights revenue in 2015 reached US$327.9 billion. Europe and Central Asia were the regions with the highest intellectual property rights revenue, reaching US$140.4 billion, followed by North America with US$134.7 billion.
