First Quarter 2018, Indonesian Investment Grows 12%

The Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) released data showing that Indonesia's investment value in the first quarter of 2018 grew by 11.76% to Rp 185.3 trillion from the first quarter of the previous year. This figure represents 24.2% of the target for the entire year, which is Rp 765 trillion.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first three months of this year grew by 12.27% to Rp 108.9 trillion compared to the first three months of last year. This amounts to 22.8% of the target of Rp 477.4 trillion. Meanwhile, Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) increased by 11.05% to Rp 76.4 trillion, reaching 26.56% of the target of Rp 287.6 trillion.

In the first three months of this year, the largest domestic investment flowed into the construction sector (Rp 13 billion), food crops and plantations (Rp 10.38 billion), and transportation (Rp 10.27 billion). The three sectors receiving the largest inflows of foreign funds were housing, industrial estates, and office buildings (US$ 1.87 billion); metal, machinery, and electronics (US$ 1.45 billion); and electricity, gas, and water supply (US$ 859.6 million).
