The Indonesian Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu), Suahasil Nazara, is urging the use of Rp747 trillion (approximately US$49.8 billion) from the State Budget (APBN) and Regional Budget (APBD) for the procurement of local or domestic products this year.

Suahasil stated that the optimization of this Rp747 trillion budget must be carried out immediately as it will act as a catalyst to keep the Indonesian economy on a growth trajectory with controlled inflation.

Previously, the government mandated ministries, institutions, and local governments to spend at least 40% of APBN and APBD funds on purchasing local products from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives.

This policy is stipulated in Presidential Instruction Number 2 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of Increased Use of Domestic Products and Products of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives. This Presidential Instruction also supports the target of at least Rp400 trillion in APBN and APBD spending for domestic production, prioritizing products from MSMEs and cooperatives.
