LSI Survey: Public Perception of the Economy Remains Largely Negative

The Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) released its findings on public perception of the national economy. The results show that the majority of respondents surveyed assessed Indonesia's current economic condition as poor.

LSI Director Djayadi Hanan stated that the trend in public perception of the Indonesian economy has not changed significantly, remaining consistent with previous surveys conducted in May 2022. "More people hold a negative view," he said.

According to the survey, 35.1% of respondents said that Indonesia's current economy is still poor. This includes 25.5% who said the national economy is currently poor and 9.6% who rated it as very poor.

Meanwhile, 25.4% of respondents rated Indonesia's current economy as good. This comprises 2.5% who rated the national economy as very good and 22.9% who rated it as good.

Another 35.1% of respondents rated the current economic condition as moderate, while 4.4% of surveyed respondents did not answer (DN) or did not know (DK).

The LSI survey was conducted from June 27 to July 5, 2022, involving 1,206 respondents spread across 34 provinces. The survey used random digit dialing (RDD) via randomly contacted telephone numbers. The margin of error is estimated at +/- 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
