Domestic Livestock Investment Realization Soared in 2020

The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) notes that domestic investment realization (PMDN) in the livestock subsector has shown an increasing trend since 2016. The highest increase occurred in 2020.

Domestic investment realization in livestock in 2016 amounted to Rp 465.5 billion. In 2020, it reached Rp 2.28 trillion, soaring 116.9% compared to 2019, which was Rp 1.05 trillion.

The largest PMDN investment value in the livestock sector in 2020 came from poultry farming, at Rp 2.2 trillion. This represents 94.62% of the total PMDN investment in livestock that year.

This was followed by cattle and buffalo farming with an investment value of Rp 109.9 billion or 4.81%. Meanwhile, pig farming had an investment value of Rp 10.9 billion or 0.48%, and sheep and goat farming amounted to Rp 2.1 billion or 0.09%.

Meanwhile, foreign investment realization (PMA) was recorded at US$ 44.4 million in 2020. This figure fluctuated, increasing by 17.64% compared to 2019, which was US$ 37.8 million.

The largest PMA investment value in the livestock sector in 2020 came from poultry farming, reaching US$ 41.0 million or 92.20% of the total PMA in livestock that year. This was followed by cattle and buffalo farming at US$ 3.5 million or 7.80%.
