Lampung's Deputy Governor, Chusnunia Chalim, has resigned from her position. Chusnunia submitted her letter of resignation to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) around Friday, August 11, 2023.
According to Detik.com, Chusnunia resigned to run for a seat in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). She claims all resignation procedures have been completed.
"The requirements have been met, in accordance with the procedure. I have submitted it," she said when met at the Lampung Provincial Government Office on Monday (August 21, 2023).
Chusnunia Chalim's name has been widely discussed in the media due to her allegedly disproportionate wealth.
On May 17, 2023, Chusnunia was summoned by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The anti-corruption agency requested clarification regarding her assets as recorded in the State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN).
According to Katadata, the woman familiarly known as Nunik is the second official from Lampung to be summoned by the KPK for asset clarification in the last two weeks. Previously, the Head of the Lampung Health Office, Reihana, was summoned on May 8, 2023.
Nunik was inaugurated as Deputy Governor of Lampung, alongside Arinal Djunaidi, on June 12, 2019.
During her tenure as Deputy Governor, Nunik's wealth has significantly increased. In 2019, her assets recorded in the LHKPN amounted to Rp10.2 billion. The following year, it increased considerably to Rp12.3 billion.
In 2021, her assets were recorded at Rp13.7 billion. In the 2022 period, reported on March 31, 2023, her assets reached Rp19.7 billion. This means Nunik's wealth soared by Rp6 billion in just one year.
