Ahead of Debate II: Jakarta's Highest Budget Allocation for Education

The education sector is a top priority in the Jakarta Provincial Government's 2017 Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBD) draft. The 2017 RAPBD summary shows that the Jakarta Provincial Government allocated Rp 17.49 trillion to education, the largest allocation compared to other sectors. This amount represents 27.5 percent of the total APBD expenditure, encompassing both direct (BL) and indirect (BTL) expenditures.

Meanwhile, to address traffic congestion, the Jakarta Provincial Government budgeted Rp 12.73 trillion, or approximately 20 percent of the 2017 APBD expenditure. For healthcare, Rp 8.27 trillion was allocated, representing about 13 percent of the APBD expenditure.

The total 2017 Jakarta RAPBD reached Rp 70.19 trillion, comprising Rp 28.05 trillion in indirect expenditures (BTL), Rp 35.55 trillion in direct expenditures (BL), and Rp 6.57 trillion in financing expenditures.
