Top 10 Provincial Governments Receiving the Largest Oil and Gas Revenue Sharing in 2020

Based on data from the Ministry of Finance, the oil and gas revenue sharing fund (DBH) transferred by the central government to regional governments amounted to Rp 10.03 trillion in 2020. This comprised Rp 2.72 trillion transferred to 21 provincial governments and Rp 7.32 trillion transferred to 347 district/city governments.

Five provincial governments in Sumatra were among the largest recipients of oil and gas DBH in 2020, while three other provinces were in Java, one in Papua, and one in Kalimantan.

Riau Province recorded the largest receipt of oil and gas DBH among provincial governments, receiving Rp 1.08 trillion, or 37.71% of the total DBH to provincial governments in 2020. This figure excludes DBH received by city/district governments within Riau Province.

The next largest recipients of oil and gas DBH among provincial governments were East Java (Rp 551 billion), West Papua (Rp 356.08 billion), Aceh (Rp 201 billion), South Sumatra (Rp 137.82 billion), and East Kalimantan (Rp 129.66 billion). Provincial governments receiving less than Rp 100 billion in DBH included Jambi (Rp 69 billion), Jakarta (Rp 66 billion), Riau Islands (Rp 59 billion), and West Java (Rp 48.03 billion).

For information, several districts/cities in Riau are oil-producing regions, such as Bengkalis Regency, Rokan Hilir Regency, and Siak Regency. Therefore, Riau Province received the largest DBH in the previous year. Meanwhile, Bojonegoro is one of the districts in East Java that was the largest national oil producer in 2020.
